Led by Jade, we have a fantastic team who will take your calls and pass on any queries you may have regarding the services we offer – whether that be mediation, engagement, development, coaching or HR support. It's important to us that you can call us 24/7, so a member of the team will always be available to ensure that any queries are dealt with efficiently.


Pete Colby, Director


Throughout his career Pete has guided individuals, teams and organisations in not only resolving disputes, but also understanding and engaging people to develop relationships, enhance working environments and evolve organisational cultures.


Pete attributes his passion for people engagement to being educated at “the University of Life” having left school at 16 and going straight into work. He’s worked for some great people leaders and some that haven’t been quite so effective. Leading teams of people himself he also understands how difficult and frustrating it can be, but also how rewarding it is when people are truly engaged.


Having accumulated more than 30 years’ experience in industry Pete has developed his career by working his way through the ranks from packing boxes in warehouses, managing operations in factories directly leading 800 people, through to working at executive level in blue-chip organisations such as Rolls-Royce and British Steel, leading employee engagement for up to 12,000 people.  


Pete is a fully qualified and accredited Civil, Commercial and Workplace Mediator, has a master's degree (MSc) in strategic HR management and holds the highest level of 'Fellow' within the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD).  Having received distinctions in employment law, he is also qualified in health & safety and holds a green belt in lean six sigma.


Pete fundamentally believes that everything to do with culture in any organisation stems from how well people are understood and how effectively people are engaged. In any one day he can be working with employees on a shop floor, senior executives, trade unions or lawyers – it’s working with such a variety of people and backgrounds that gives him the buzz he gets from his work.


Pete is married to Liz and they have a 7-year-old daughter, who he says already thinks she’s a teenager. Being an animal lover Pete has had a whole variety of pets but currently only has a dog and a number of ex-battery chickens who see out their days in his back yard. In his spare time Pete does lots of DIY, having managed a large home improvement project over the last few years – which he hopes one day will actually be completed - if he gets the time.


It’s the pragmatism that Pete believes in so passionately that inspired him to launch Pragmatism (UK) Ltd, and he leads the business with an ethos of accountability, collaboration and (of course) pragmatism.

Emma Hogan, Senior Employee Relations Expert


Emma has over 20 years of experience in HR, specialising in employee relations and focusing on managing people risk issues. Emma has worked with the full spectrum of employers from private to public sector, unionised to non-unionised environments, and start-up businesses through to FTSE 100 blue chip companies where she has operated at Executive level.


Emma has successfully managed business transformation and restructuring / redundancy programmes providing functional expertise, guidance and leadership globally and now specialises in managing complex, high risk cases.  Having a wealth of experience in investigating and resolving Anti Bribery and Corruption, whistleblowing and business ethics matters, Emma’s ability for resolving complex ethical employee issues has earnt her a reputation for strong thought leadership and judgement in difficult situations.


Having dealt with many an ethical dilemma, Emma is passionate about helping organisations succeed by doing business in the right way, supporting leaders to effectively and pragmatically manage their people risk.


Outside of work Emma is married to Rob and has 2 teenage children Alice (18) and Ben (16) and a slightly bonkers cockapoo called Bailey! Last year Emma became a Parish Councillor and she is kept busy helping with redeveloping the village centre. Emma is an avid cricket fan and during the summer can be found watching Ben play in the village team whilst providing a mean cricket tea!


Claire Bracegirdle, Mediator & Counsellor


Claire is a qualified and accredited Civil, Commercial & Employment Mediator. She is also a fully qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist & Hypnotherapist.


Claire has over 8 years’ experience of working with adults, couples and children working privately and on a consultancy basis for various companies and charities. From her background of therapy, Claire is highly experienced at dealing with people’s everyday stresses, anxieties & relationship challenges.


One of Claire's greatest strengths is her friendly and bubbly personality which definitely helps in her work, enabling people to relax as much as possible during mediation.


Having such a busy life Claire has little time for hobbies, but particularly enjoys her time with family and friends. She is also an animal lover with two dogs and a cat at home.


As an Associate of Pragmatism (UK) Ltd Claire can help parties to resolve their disputes in any commercial, civil, legal or workplace dispute anywhere in the UK.


Simon Sharpe, Mediator


Simon is a trained Civil & Commercial Mediator approved by and registered with the Civil Mediation Council.  He is a qualified solicitor with over 32 years’ experience, and heads the Penmans’ Clinical Negligence & Personal Injury team. 


From his background in civil litigation Simon has many years’ experience of dispute resolution.  He understands the frustration of parties unwilling to commit to a lengthy and expensive court litigation process and sees his role as a mediator is to facilitate resolution between the parties.


Away from the world of dispute resolution Simon is secretary of The Criterion Theatre, a non-professional theatre company in Earlsdon, Coventry.  There he indulges his interest in set design and set build and heads the team designing and building sets for their packed programme of plays.  He also dances with Earlsdon Morris and, if he can find time, enjoys riding motorbikes.  And don’t ask him about Parkrun.  He is a late convert and can talk for England on the subject.
